This week in St Marychurch: local causes, live music and the Hub

There is plenty of good happening on our doorstep this week — from local causes to live music, plus a new way to find what is on.

Shop local. Support local causes.

A browse of St Marychurch’s charity shops can make a real difference. Barnardo’s and The Children’s Society support children and young people; Animals in Distress helps rescued animals; Rowcroft Hospice funds local hospice care; and Devon Air Ambulance supports lifesaving critical care. Cornerstone and Punk Against Poverty are important local places too, offering practical community support alongside their shops.

A useful local reminder: Punk Pantry is a free, 24-hour food-and-toiletries pantry for anyone who needs it. Take what you need; donate if you can.

Planning a clear-out? Please check directly with each shop before taking donations, as needs and opening hours can change.

Saturday 3 October: live music in the precinct

  • 7pm — Rum & Reggae at Molloy’s, hosted by Ryan Fincham.
  • 8pm — Flare Unplugged at the Crown & Sceptre.
  • 8.30pm — Simon Rees at St Marychurch & Babbacombe Conservative Club.

Try the St Marychurch Hub

The Hub is in a short trial period: one place for Shop Local, travel information, buses, local heritage and What’s On. The travel section has already proved genuinely useful, and we would love you to try it and tell us what would make it better.

Explore the St Marychurch Hub

If you know someone who is not on Facebook, please pass this on by text, email or word of mouth. It is for everyone in St Marychurch — and the more people who use it, the better it can become.

Thank you for supporting St Marychurch.
